Seashell Beach Decor from The Sleepy Seahorse

I really can't resist pairing seashells with seagrass.

I've started thinking more about wall hangings in beach décor.  Here are two wooden boards covered in burlap and decorated with sea fans, seashells, sand dollars, starfish, and even a pink sea urchin on one of them.  They make a nice pair, but they could also be hung separately as well.

In keeping with the wall hangings idea, mirrors are also a great way to showcase seashells.

Air Plants and Ornaments/Seagrass Box from The Sleepy Seahorse

First off, I just wanted to share my new air plant!  These cute little plants take very little care, but they're fun and they are the perfect size to live in a seashell!  All you have to do is make sure it has plenty of filtered light, and soak it in water for about half an hour or so once a week.  Here is my new plant nestled inside a lighting whelk.

Just last week, I was asked to create some abalone ornaments for a beach wedding in California!  This was my first order for a wedding, so I was very excited.  Here they are:

These abalone ornaments seem to be pretty popular, so here are a few more that I recently added to my shop.

I'm offering these in a set of 4.

And as I've said before, I love seagrass in shell crafting - baskets, or boxes.  It already has a rustic, beachy look that showcases seashells nicely.  So here is another cylindrical/circular shaped box that I recently added to my shop.

Blue and White Seashell Photo Frame from The Sleepy Seahorse

I'm not sure the photos do this frame justice.  It's really quite lovely.  The white shells and knobby starfish compliment the blue frame nicely.

As you can see, it can be hung horizontally or vertically (there are hooks in the back for both).

The bird is a white ibis, a common bird to see around Florida, and the mascot of the Miami Hurricanes!  The vertical photo is the Cape Florida Lighthouse at Key Biscayne.

Here are a few close-ups.

New Items from The Sleepy Seahorse!!

I've just added these items to my shop.  I'm really excited about the seagrass box.  Woven seagrass lends itself really well to shell crafts because it already has a kind of beachy, rustic look.

The photo in the frame was taken at Lover's Key State Park in Florida.  Lover's Key is great for photos at sunset because the beach is covered with driftwood and foliage that make interesting photographs.

Glass Jars/Trinket Boxes Adorned With Seashells and Sea Life

These glass jars actually once held facial moisturizer, but they can easily be re-used.  I've painted the tops light blue and then embellished them with shells, sea life, and a flat marble.  They'd be a great addition to a coastal bathroom to hold cotton balls or other bathroom essentials.  The top twists off just like any other glass jar, and the bottom part could easily be cleaned separately.
